LOUISA CHASE
Artist
Spending time in the places where brambles grow during late summer and Autumn led to this series of fugitive, compostable works.
The blackberries were gathered respectfully following traditional methods of communicating with the plants prior to taking anything.
Made using full-body movements and painting directly with my hands.

The Ragged Field is the name that suggested itself in relation to a wild place I visit that sits between the Lincoln Edge and West Common.
The blackberries were gathered from this ragged field.
The marks reflect the psychic and historical layers felt in outer and inner landscapes when wandering this field.
